SIOUX CITY -- Peggy M. Mandicino, 85, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, peacefully at home, comforted by family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Woodbury Township Cemetery, Sergeant Bluff. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Peggy was born Dec. 18, 1925, in Sudbury, Suffolk, England, to Harry and Maggie (Parmenter) Wiffen. She received her education in Suffolk, England, before meeting Frank Mandicino during the war.

She married Frank on her birthday in the year of 1944 and to this union one daughter, Teresa, was born while in England. The family relocated to the United States in 1945. Peggy was proud to be a homemaker and took great pride in cooking for family dinners, shopping with her daughter, and simply spending time with family.

She enjoyed dancing and was a former member of the Letter Carriers Auxiliary 185.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Teresa Schroeder and her husband, Rick Sr. of Sioux City; grandchildren, Rick Schroeder Jr. and Lisa Rhymer; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Schroeder, Kayla Schroeder, Taylor Schroeder, Adam Rhymer, and Alex Rhymer; great-great-grandchildren, Christian Schroeder and Mallory Schroeder; siblings, Muriel Johnson, John Wiffen, Spencer Wiffen, all of England, Jean Solomon of Arizona, Joan McLeod of California, Barry Wiffen and Valerie Nordyke, both of Sioux City; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Elma Mandicino.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 1997; sister, Joyce Taylor; and brother-in-law, Jim Mandicino.

Memorials may be offered to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104 in Peggy's name.
