13 December 2011SALIX, Iowa -- Sharon Tripp, 63, of Salix passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scripture prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa. Sharon Kaye was born July 26, 1948, in Sioux City, the daughter of Melvin Biggerstaff Sr. and Lola Downing. She was raised by her mother and adoptive father, Lola and Eldon Eliason, in the Salix and Sloan, Iowa, area and graduated from Westwood High School.
On Aug. 30, 1966, Sharon and Joseph "Joe" Tripp were united in marriage and blessed with three sons. They made their home in Salix, where Sharon operated a day care in her home. Joe passed away on March 26, 1998.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Tabernacle Society and the American Legion Smith-Rhodes Auxiliary in Sloan. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends and meeting at the Sloan Cafe for an enjoyable time of playing cards. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family and being with her grandsons.
Survivors include her sons and their wives, David "Doc" and Jacquelyn Tripp of Sioux City and Robert "Rob" and Heather Tripp of Salix; four grandsons, Brian, Brendan, Colby and Carter; her father, Eldon Eliason of Salix; her father, Melvin "Bud" Biggerstaff of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Steve and Pam Eliason of Salix; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Joe, she was also preceded in death by her mother, Lola Eliason; a son, Michael "Mike" Tripp; and a brother, Ray Biggerstaff.
