SIOUX CITY | Marcella M. Welch, 93, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at a local care center.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Casa de Paz Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Peters officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Marcella was born on Aug. 14, 1919, in Doland, S.D., the daughter of Dexter and Elizabeth (Brown) Welch. She worked for the Department of Defense during World War II in Chicago. She then did various waitress jobs in Sioux City. She also worked for Tri-State Cleaning Service before retiring.

Marcella was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Marcella is survived by a daughter whom she had given up for adoption at birth, Mary of Las Cruces, N.M. The mother and daughter had recently made contact. She is also survived by various nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; and a stillborn son.
