SIOUX CITY | Douglas "Doug" Woolworth, 66, of Red Oak, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Jan. 16, 2013, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Doug was born June 24, 1946, in Sioux City, to Lee and Evelyn (Jones) Woolworth. Doug graduated from Leeds High School, where he was very active in athletics and was a homecoming candidate. He graduated from Morningside College and began his construction career with his dad at Woolworth Construction. He then served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy in San Francisco.

He married Margaret Kettler in Sioux City. The couple had two children and remained close friends after they divorced. He married Charlotte (Heath) Nevius and moved to Phoenix to work on commercial remodels. They later divorced. He returned to Sioux City and began Craftmaster Construction. He finished his career with MCO Associates as a project manager.

Doug was past president of the Home Builders Association of Sioux City. He served on the Sioux City Public Schools Advisory Board and was an Alternate Delegate of the Democratic Party all in the 1980s. Doug loved fast red cars and peach pie.

Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Woolworth; a daughter, Monique and Jay Noteboom; a son, Mason Woolworth and Juliana Cain; grandchildren, Grace and Ruby Noteboom; sisters, JoAnn Patton and Judy Lewis, all of the Siouxland area; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; special companion, Debbie Gamble of Red Oak; and close friend, Anne Ladd of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Woolworth and brothers, Jeff and Leland Woolworth.
