SIOUX CITY | Lawrence J. "Larry" Pridie, 83, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at a local care facility.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com.

Larry was born the son of James and Mary (Rooney) Pridie on Nov. 10, 1929, in Sioux City. He received his schooling in the Sioux City Schools.

Larry married Belva Jean Sturgeon on Jan. 5, 1949, in Sioux City. He worked as a baker at Continental Baking for 37 years. He was given a commendation for 35 years without an accident.

Larry liked fishing at Lake Okoboji. He never knew a stranger and really enjoyed visiting with people. He cherished his 1954 black Cadillac, which he loved to work on and show off to everyone.

Larry is survived by his wife, Belva Jean of Sioux City; five children, Rita (Steve) Ellwein of Sioux City, Lawrence "Bud" (Barb) Pridie Jr. of St. George, Utah, Pat (Deb) Pridie of Liberal, Kan., Danny Pridie of Spearfish, S.D., and Susan (Dennis Dumcraux) Krentz of Des Moines, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Ray and Pat; and two infant sisters.
