SIOUX CITY | Roslyn Melton-Harbeck, 77, of Sioux City passed away early Jan. 15, 2013.

Abiding by her wishes, there will be no services. She requested private burial near her parents in Ireton, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Roslyn was born on June 22, 1935, in Ireton, to Robert and Gladys (Bartlett) Melton. Her parents christened her Roslyn Joy Melton. As she often reminded us, she was a Joy to everyone who knew her.

Roslyn attended comptroller school after graduating from Central High School in Sioux City. She lived with and lovingly cared for her parents until their deaths. She shared her parents' fun-loving spirit and enjoyed games and spending time with friends.

She married Orville Harbeck on May 31, 1996, in McCook Lake, S.D., and enjoyed a very brief time with him before his passing on Jan. 4, 1997. Although she had no children, she adopted many of her friends' children as her own.

Roslyn was a member of the United Methodist faith and greatly enjoyed pastoral visits later in her life. Roslyn had many lifelong friends. She enjoyed meeting people and gathering new friends at every turn in her life.

Survivors include her brother, Harlan (Nancy) Melton of Washington; a sister-in-law, Delores (Robert) Melton of Minnesota; nephews, Greg (Kari) Melton of Arizona, and Robert Melton of California; nieces, Kim (Mike) Jones and Judy Melton of Washington, and Ranelle Melton of Minnesota; grandnephews, Matt Jones and Ryan Melton of Washington, Harlan Melton of Arizona, and Neil Melton of Minnesota; and grandnieces, Grace Melton and Jaden Melton of Arizona, and Katie Melton of Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Kenneth Melton and Robert Melton Jr.; sister, Judith Melton; nephews, Ronnie Melton and Robert Melton III; and a grandnephew, Christopher Jones.
