Robert Coleman, 78, of DeKalb. Ill., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, in DeKalb.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at First United Methodist Church in DeKalb.

Mr. Coleman was born in Sioux City, the son of Samuel and Ethyl (Cohen) Coleman. He graduated from the University of Nebraska and served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.

He married Elizabeth Emily "Betty" Meier of White Lake, S.D. in 1956.

The couple moved to Illinois in 1969, where he worked at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb until retiring in 1989. Following his retirement, he worked in small construction. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane of DeKalb; a son, Robert S. of Columbus, Ohio; and a brother, Stan of Sioux City.
