Hubert A. "Duffy" Cochran 1925-2000

LAUREL, Neb. — Hubert A. "Duffy" Cochran, 74, of Laurel died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Laurel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Glen Emert officiating. Private graveside services will be in Graceland Park cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mr. Cochran was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Sioux City, the son of LeRoy F. and Alice (McFarland) Cochran. He was raised in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.

He married Alma "Jane" Ellyson March 1, 1947, in Sioux City. He was employed with Burlington-Northern Railroad for nearly 42 years.

He attended Laurel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Gordon Wayne and Pat of Lakeview, Iowa, and Johnny Mac and Dena of Le Mars, Iowa; three daughters, Virgin ina Cochran of South Sioux City, Gale Anderson of Laurel, and Nancy Studnicka of Henderson, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Patrick; a brother in infancy; parents; and a brother, Gordon Wayne.
