Glen E. Buchanan Jr., 79, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Monday, May 1, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Tim Blanchard of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Monahan Post 64. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. Buchanan was born Dec. 16, 1920, in Sioux City, the son of Glenn and Hazel (DeLap) Buchanan. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a radio operator stationed in China and India.

He married Opal R. Skidmore on Oct. 4, 1947, in Sioux City. He was employed as a service manager with Getz Buick for 22 years. He was then employed as an insurance agent with American Family Insurance for 25 years, retiring in 1984.He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Robert and Deborah of Boise, Idaho; three sisters and their husbands, Edith and Lee Pasewalk of Torrance, Calif., Lois and George Holmes of Sioux City and Darlene and Ery Schlickbernd of Emerson, Neb.; three grandchildren, Brent, Heather and Haley and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marilyn Neal and Dorothy Holmes.
Pallbearers will be Bill Winterlin, George Eastman, Sid Skidmore, Marvin Jensen, Everett Meier and Alvin Holley.
