James E. "Jim" Carlson 1920-2001

James E. "Jim" Carlson, 81, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at his residence.

His body has been donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. There will be no services or visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Carlson was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Audubon, Iowa, the son of Everett and Christine (Crowe) Carlson. He graduated from high school in Carroll, Iowa. He married Tresa E. Johnson on Jan. 5, 1946, in Chicago, Ill. He had been a Sioux City resident since 1946. He retired from Nabisco Brands in 1979.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling and shooting pool at the Siouxland Senior Center. He served in the U.S. Army during World War H in the European Theater.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Rhea and Ed Steck of Sioux City, and Connie and Frank Platt of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Gladys Lacey of Madrid, Iowa; two brothers, Clyde and his wife, Edyth Carlson of Creston, Calif., and Russ Carlson of Oregon; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.
