Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Reserve at the conclusion of the service. A private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marie was born on March 29, 1923 in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Percy and Mae (McCauley) Benner. She lived in Detroit until joining the U.S. Navy in 1944. During her naval assignment in Norfolk, Va., she met her future husband, Robert C. Stark Sr., USMC. They were married on June 16, 1945, and were together for 54 years until his passing in 1999.

Marie and Bob moved to Sioux City in 1947, living in Leeds. Marie owned and operated her own beauty shop in Leeds for many years and was a member of the Leeds Commercial Club. She was a former Worthy Matron of Azure Chapter OES and a member of the former WAVES Association.

Marie was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she served as a member of the choir, an occasional organ accompanist and participation on many committees. Marie enjoyed camping, bowling and her weekly golf outings with her friends at Hidden acres and Covington Links golf clubs.

She is survived by three children, Bob Stark Jr. and his wife, Debbie Martin of Sioux City, Karen Stark of San Antonio, Texas, and Jim Stark and his wife, Conni of Oregon, Wis.; as well as four grandchildren, Angela Stark-Ticich and her husband, Chris, Jonathan Stark, Michael Stark and Brian Stark; and one great-grandson, Austin Alexander Ticich.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.

Marie's family would like to acknowledge her loving caregivers, Terra, Mary, Heather and Natasha for their kindness to our mother as well as the staff at Hospice of Siouxland. We are thankful for being able to share her love for so long and rejoice in knowing she is at rest with her Savior.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
