Obit in The Correctionville News, 11 May 1967, page 1: Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, 1967, in the Assembly of God Church in Correctionville for Mrs. Fred Sylvester, 47, who passed away May 15 in a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Rev. Robert Ayer, former pastor of the local Assembly of God Church, officiated. Interment was in the Correctionville Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Home. Sibyl Bennett was born June 6, 1919, near Anthon, oldest daughter of Joseph and Lillian (Stearns) Bennett. She was educated in rural schools in the Washta, Pierson and Correctionville areas. She was united in marriage to Fred Sylvester, October 14, 1947, and had resided in Correctionville since that time. She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church, Correctionville. Sibyl also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, which she served as chaplain for many years, and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She is survived by her husband and a sister, Mrs. Virgil (Dorothy) Hager, a niece and nephew, JoAnn and Oliver Hager, all of Stockton, Illinois, three aunts and three uncles. Her parents, and an elder brother, Warren Eugene, preceded her in death.
