Charles F. Clark, 76, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at his residence following a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Clark was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Omaha, the son of William and Ida (Newman) Clark. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 aboard the U.S.S. Takelma.

He married Jan M. McKelvey on Sept. 20, 1973, in Sioux City. He worked on an ore freighter called the Cadillac in the Great Lakes for several years. He then worked for Iowa Public Service for 27 years, retiring in 1986.

He belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He cycled 4,600 miles in 1953, going from coast to coast.

Survivors include his wife; a brother and his wife, Theodore and Mary Clark of Phoenix; two sisters-in-law, Rose Clark of Phoenix and Kathy and her husband, Otto 5chrunk of Sioux City; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Nicholas.

Pallbearers will he Gary Riibe, Tom Guillaume, Jason Schrunk and Sam Selzer.
