HOLSTEIN, Iowa — John Theodore Crawford, 84, of Holstein died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa, with the Rev. Daniel Price officiating. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery at Cushing, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Crawford was born Sept. 13, 1912, near Holstein, the son of John and Olive Mae (Dunkelberger) Crawford. He received his education in Ida County schools.

He married Verla Bernice Hamilton on Feb. 22, 1937, in Denison, Iowa. He farmed for 64 years, before the couple moved into Holstein in 1976.

He was a member of Winebrenner Church of God in Ida Grove, where he served as Deacon and usher, and the church brotherhood. He served on the ASC board of directors, for six years, and the FHA board.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, John H. "Jack" and Jean of Holstein; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Regennitter, Jaynine Ray, Jameson and Justin Crawford; and eight great-grandchildren.
