SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa | Martha A. Schram, 82, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Anthon and Correctionville, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Embassy Care Center of Sergeant Bluff.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville with the Rev. Dr. DeeAnn Klapp officiating. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Ann (Hair) Schram was born Feb. 12, 1930, to George William and Viola Merle (Davis) Hair in Sioux City. Martha’s family moved around a lot but mostly in the Smithland and Anthon area. She married Donald Schram on Sept 14, 1949. To this union three children were born.

Martha and Don had a big interest in travel, which they did until failing health forced them to stop. Many a weekend would find Martha and Don traveling on a little road trip just looking at the countryside. There was not one historical marker along the way that they didn’t pull over and read. Martha was a dedicated homemaker and mother and her talent was definitely in the kitchen. Martha loved music and singing. She was especially proud of receiving her GED later in life.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Georgie L. and Wayne A. Hair; a sister, Marie and brother-in-law Elmer Khulman; brother in-law, Bud Mack; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Janeice Schram; mother and father-in-law, Abe and Opal Schram; one nephew and an infant niece.

Survivors include three children, Sue (Jerry) McCune, David Schram, and Sheri (Jamie) Petersen all of Salix, Iowa; grandchildren, Gena (Michael) Fried, Morgan Petersen, Jacob Schram, Justin Schram; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alaura Fried, Alex, Aaliyah, Nevaeh Schram, Jacob and Arial Schram; two sisters, Darlene Mack of Smithland, Iowa, and Dorothy Caudillo of Mapleton, Iowa; two sisters–in-law, Dorothy Hair of Hye, Texas, and Susan Hair of Sioux City; brother- and sister-in-law, Lyle (Sally) Schram of Anthon, Iowa. Martha is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
