Janice Wilkes Trapp, 80, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at home with her daughter, Debra, by her side.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Trapp was born on March 19, 1932, in Sioux City, the only child of Harry and Jane Fulghum. She graduated from Central High School in 1950 and Wayne State College in 1952 with a teaching certificate.

Mrs. Trapp taught K-3rd grade in Cherokee, Iowa, for two years where she met Merle A. Trapp. They were married on Feb. 13, 1954, in Sioux City. Merle passed away on Aug. 29, 2005. Janice was a medical records secretary at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center for 25 years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Janice enjoyed watching television, visiting with her friends and watching the birds and deer in her backyard. She also enjoyed Debra’s baking.

Janice is survived by her two sons, Douglas and Thomas of Texas; three daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Michael Holeman of Arkansas, Debra and her husband, Robert Wilson of Sioux City, who provided in-home care for Janice since 2007 following a stroke, and Erika Nazem of Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a grandson
