Judy was born April 2, 1944, in Pratt, Kan., the daughter of loving parents Alexander and Aileen (Simpkin) Jelinek, the oldest of 13 children. She grew up in the small town of Pisek, N.D. She graduated from Pisek High School. Judy spent time with her siblings, at the family store, working and enjoying family life.

At age 18 she met her future husband, Leonard Dunn. They married Aug. 4, 1963, in Pisek. They traveled to the southern part of North Dakota, where they started their family.

In 1969 the family moved to Iowa where Judy worked at Floyd Valley Packing Plant for a short time. She started her own housecleaning business and farmed with Leonard and her then-three children.

Tragedy hit in 1976 when she lost a son at birth, Travis. Two years later they were blessed with another daughter, Tricia.

In 1983 they moved to the family farm, where she enjoyed flower gardening and keeping an impeccable lawn that was admired by passers-by. Tragedy struck again in 2009 when her husband Leonard found his way to heaven. Two years later she found a lifelong partner, Jim German, to love and share her life.

Judy was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She volunteered at the Discovery Center.

She enjoyed her life, dancing, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren, along with her passion for artistic interpretation through her sketches and oil paintings. She will be missed by many friends and family.

Survivors include two sons, Joe (Edie) Dunn of Sioux City and grandchildren Tyler, Holly and Tallie and great-granddaughter Aubrey, and Brad Dunn of Sioux City and grandchildren Tara and Chanse; two daughters, Madonna (Monte) Hansen of Hinton, Iowa, and grandchildren Erica, Spencer and Breann, and Tricia (Dr. Aaron) Case of Portland, Ore.; a grandchild on the way; her special friend, Jim; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Travis.
