6 December 2012Mavis Eileen Jaynes, 85, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at a local care facility.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Roger Madden of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences for the family may be made at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.
Mavis was born in Sioux City, on June 21, 1927, the daughter of Richard and Lena Redmon. She attended and graduated from the Sioux City Community Schools. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.
She was united in marriage with Robert Jaynes in 1948. The couple later divorced. On May 20, 1970, she was united in marriage with Thomas La Croix in Yankton, S.D. Mavis worked for several years at Zenith Corporation. Following the closing of the plant, she worked in commercial cleaning until retiring several years ago.
She loved to read, watch television and for many years, she enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas of Sioux City; her son, Wesley Jaynes of Sioux City; her daughter, Dena Mills of Longmont, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; and two daughters, Janelle and GiGi.
