Pearl Ella Linden was born April 14, 1917, in Rutland Township, Woodbury County, the daughter of Clarence G. and Elizabeth A. (Lancaster) Taylor. She attended country school near her farm home and later graduated from Pierson High School in 1934. Following graduation, Pearl worked as a reporter for the Pierson Progress newspaper. She also assisted her family on the farm and neighbors with housekeeping and raising their children.

They made their home at various towns in the Midwest prior to moving to Pierson, Iowa, in the early ’50s. They later lived in Odebolt, Iowa, until moving to their final home in Moville in 1966. Along with homemaking, Pearl worked as a home health care assistant. She became a resident at Westwood Nursing and Rehab on Sept. 14, 2012.

While living on the farm, Pearl enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.
