Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Mary Ann was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of Joseph and Antonina (Simonavicius) Rashimas. She grew up in Sioux City where she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941.

She married Joseph P. Karpuk on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1946, at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Prior to her marriage, she worked at Toy National Bank. Mary Ann then became a devoted wife and mother to her six children. She was a partner with her husband, Joe, and son, Fred, in the family business, Baber's Vis-Vita.

Mary Ann loved supporting her children and grandchildren in their sports and music, and spending time with the family every August at Okoboji playing games and cards. Family nickel poker night was a special treat for her. Always a willing listener to Joe's harmonica, Phil's guitar, the St. Mike's Choir and the Bandshell Band, Mary Ann especially liked songs that inspired her faith. One of her few regrets was never winning the Annual Easter Egg Cracking Contest.

Mary Ann was a supporter of St. Michael Church, Bishop Heelan High School, Briar Cliff University and Trinity Heights (Queen of Peace).

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Joe; six children and spouses, Phil (Lorall) Karpuk of Sioux City, Fred (Beth) Karpuk of Sioux City, Lori (Doug) Moody of Omaha, Neb., Teresa Maxey of Sioux City, Theodore Karpuk of Dakota Dunes and Joanne (Tom) Friedman of Ankeny, Iowa; 27 grandchildren and spouses, Jonny (Erin), Tommy (Sara), Alex (Sara) and Kayla Lou Karpuk, Brian (Caitlyn) Karpuk, Niki (John) Tedesco, Sarah (J.O.) She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin sister, Mary Etha; an 18-month-old sister, Aldona; and a grandson, Josef Ivan Karpuk.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
