Malva M. Trobaugh, 75, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janice Bennett officiating. The body was cremated. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 4 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Trobaugh was born Feb.1, 1927, in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Lavada (Harkness) Anderson. She attended school in Westfield, Iowa. She married Walter L. Trobaugh on Dec. 21, 1945, in Akron, Iowa. The couple lived in Sioux City and then in Biloxi, Miss., while Walter was in the service. They lived in Westfield for many years where they farmed together, moving to Sioux City in the early 1970s. She worked at Fairmont Creamery and then at J.C. Penney for several years. She also worked at the Half Price Store.

She attended Westfield Congregational Church as a child, and was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.

Her family was the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, playing cards, bowling and ceramics. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Terry and his fiancee, Sandy Whitlock of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Tanya and Greg Sherrill of Moville, Iowa; four sisters, Margaret Hummel of Westfield, Iowa, Mildred Yates of Sioux City, Maie Dziurawiec and her husband, Julian of Kansas City, Mo., and Marietta Brown of Westfield; two grandchildren, Benjamin Britton and Alexandra Sherrill; two stepgrandchildren, Ryan and Carlee Sherrill of Homer, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Mervin; and three brothers-in-law, Gordon Hummel, Fred Yates Sr. and Wallace Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur, Fred, Gary and John Yates, Julian Dziurawiec Jr. and Marly Gerdes.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland and the Siouxland Regional Cancer Center.
