CUSHING, Iowa — Ella Lois Meins, 75, of Cushing, died Sunday, May 24, 1992, at her home of a short illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing, with the Rev. Douglas Opp officiating. Burial will be in the Cushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7-8 p.m., at Barker-Ritchie Funeral Home in Holstein.

Mrs. Meins was born June 20,1916, in Battle Township, Ida County, the daughter of Ferd and Betty (Dittmer) Westphal. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She received her education in the Cushing Consolidated School and graduated in 1935. On Nov. 26, 1941, she married Henry Meins in Dakota City, Neb. The couple farmed six miles southwest of Cushing for 36 years. On Dec. 1, 1978, they moved into their new home in Cushing. She worked at the local cafe for 25 years and retired in February 1991.

Mrs. Meins was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, ELCW, several card clubs and was active in crafts, exhibiting some at the Woodbury County Fair.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kayana Hulce and her husband, Richard, of Sioux City and Vicki Nippert and her husband, Eldon, of Cushing; three sisters, Hilda Groepper of Correctionville, Linda Groepper and her husband, Arnold, and Freda Brosamle and her husband, Raymond, all of Cushing; and two grandchildren, Jason Meins and Jennifer Hulce.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry.
