Washta, Iowa — Ernest G. Grell, 88, of Washta died Wednesday, July 5, 1995, at Colonial Manor
in Correctionville.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing with Pastor Douglas Opp officiating. Burial will be in the Cushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.

Mr. Grell was born May 18, 1907, in Cushing, the son of Hans and Dora (Bergman) Grell. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1926. He married Erma Sorensen Dec. 10, 1933, in Cushing. The couple farmdd in the Washta area.

Mr. Grell was a member of the Cushing Town and Country Club, Washta Senior Citizens and St. John Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dale and his wife, Janice of Washta; a daughter, Sandra Johnson of Cushing; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, John, Henry, William, Hans, Fred, Louie and Edmund; two sisters, Emma Sorensen and Ella Grell, and a son--in-law, John Johnson.
