Danny Book 1969-2000

ANTHON, Iowa - Danny Book of Anthon died Sunday. September 3, 2000 at a Sioux City hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile accident at the age of 31 years 1 month, and 14 days.

Visitation and a prayer service were held on Wednesday, September 6, 2000, at Armstrong Chapel in Anthan. Services were held on Thursday, September 7 at Armstrong Chapel in Anthon, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating.

Sharon Kruse and Richard Mack provided music during the service. Rick and Barb Benson, Holly Petersen, and Kathy Petersen were in care of flowers. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Book, Billy Gotto, Jr., Shane McDermott, Phirman and Jamie Downing, Jim Bernard, Tony Nelson and James Merrill.

Honorary pallbearers were Sandy Book, Blake Perkins, Daren and Stan Petersen, Ben Prescott, Cory Brown, Don and Lee Kessler, Karl Paulsen, Hank Putzier, Gerald Yaremko, Zack Newlon, Blacey Bennett, Angie Merrill, Tracey McDermott, Rod Graves and Andy Walters.

Daniel Steven Book was born July 19, 1969, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Emmett Vernon and Helen (Gotto) Book. He lived his entire life in the Anthon community, where he attended Anthon-Oto High School. He worked for the Gothier Mink Ranch and Rick Benson. He was most recently working for Stan and Daren Petersen.

Danny was an avid hunter and was a member of the Siouxland Coon Hunters Club, the Iowa State Coon Hunters, the Little Sioux Fish Club, the Anthon Coyote Hunters, and the Posse Deer Club. He was a very active and gifted bass fisherman. He was also a committed fan of the Dallas Cowboys Football Team.

Those survivors left to cherish Danny's memory include his mother, Helen Book of Anthon; two brothers, John and Randy Book, both of Anthon: three sisters, Penny and her husband, Gerald Yaremko of Correctionville, Iowa, Cindy Book and her fiancee, Ben Prescott of Anthon and Sandy Book at home; his maternal grandmother, Joyce Gotto of Anthon, six nieces and nephews, Whitney and Bradley Yaremko, Ethan and Ernilee Book, and Jaycee and Kassidy Prescott, along with several other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his father: one brother, Billy Joe; paternal grandmother; and his maternal grandfather.
