SIOUX CITY | Melvin Charles Dutton, 96, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Touchstone Living Center.

Private graveside services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Melvin was born on April 3, 1916, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Charles and Cora (Ades) Dutton.

He married Grace Maxine Larrew on April 4, 1942, in Boone. He was a mail and baggage handler for Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Boone. After moving to Sioux City, he worked as a custodian for Dakota County School District in South Sioux City. Grace passed away Oct. 1, 2011, in Sioux City.

Melvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include three children, Kenneth Dutton of Little Canada, Minn., Chalice (James) Winkelman of Arcadia, Fla., and Melvin (Paula) Dutton Jr. of Justin, Texas; a sister-in-law, Hanette Larrew of Spokane, Wash.; and his very special friends and caregivers, Don and Linda Wheat. I do not know what our family would have done without them.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Susan; a granddaughter, Amy Wilson; two sisters, Margaret and Grace; and brothers, Marvin, Charles Jr., George and Larry Dean.
