SIOUX CITY -- Saretta Harris, 98, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at a local care facility.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Sioux City, with Rabbi Guy Greene officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Saretta was born on Nov. 25, 1913, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Max and Fannie (Shulkin) Krigsten. Saretta grew up in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School. She attended Morningside College and graduated with a degree in social work. She worked in retail for a few years before her marriage.

Saretta married Norman Harris on May 22, 1945, in Oakland, Calif. Norman passed away on April 27, 1969, in Sioux City. The couple owned and operated the Kiddie Shop and the Costume Shop. After Norman passed, Saretta owned and operated a laundry mat.

Saretta was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Shalom. She lived for her family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandson, Max, who called her "Bubbie".

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Wolfe and her husband, Brian of Norman, Okla.; and her grandson, Max Wolfe of Norman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Dr. William Krigsten, Dr. Joe Krigsten, and Dave Krigsten.

Pallbearers will be Brian and Max Wolfe, Willard Fish, Eli Krigsten, Irv Givot, and Kirk Streeter.

Memorials may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
