SIOUX CITY | David L. Baker, 67, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

David was born May 7, 1945, in Sioux City, the son of Louie and Vera Luella (Busser) Baker. He lived in Sioux City for most of his life, until the last few years when he lived in Salix and Whiting.

David married Dianne McCall on March 30, 1973. They made their home in Sioux City. They had two sons, David LeRoy Baker Jr. and Dustin Marvin Baker. David drove truck for many years and worked at Darling International until his retirement in 2000.

His favorite vacations were taking his family on fishing trips to Canada, Minnesota, and South Dakota. He loved the Rocky and Big Horn Mountains and made several trips there as well. He enjoyed playing pool, metal detecting, coin collecting, archery and hunting.

He was married to Dianne for 27 years; they later divorced but remained friends. David later met a special friend, Debbie Roach of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and together they had one son, Travis Baker.

His survivors include Dianne McCall of Sioux City, and their sons, David L. Baker Jr. of Omaha, and Dusty Baker (Trish Martin) of South Sioux City; a granddaughter, Andee Rae Martin of South Sioux City; special friend, Debbie Roach of Missouri Valley, and their son, Travis Baker of Missouri Valley; a sister, Hazel Hall of Stockton, Calif.; a brother, Randy Baker (Jeannie Hoffman) of Sioux City; special cousin, Dixie Danker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his parents.
