I. Neal Rush, 89, 303 S. D. St., Sergeant Bluff, died Friday, June 2, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Woodbury Township Cemetery in Sergeant Bluff with military rites by George Nelson Post 622, American Legion. The Rev. Paul Samuelson of the Community United Methodist Church of Sergeant Bluff will officiate. There will be no visitation. Christy Smith & Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rush was born Feb. 13, 1906, in El Dorado Springs, Mo. He moved to Sergeant Bluff in December 1911 and resided there until his death.

He belonged to the Boy Scouts from 1919 to 1921 and graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School in 1925. He then worked for the Signal Dept. of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, and served with the United States Army Headquarters Co. 12 Port T C in Great Britain and Europe during World War II. After his discharge he worked for Central West Public Telephone Co. and then for Tolerton, Warfield and National Foods for 34 years retiring in July 1963. He married Maude Ballard August 1963. She died March 7, 1977, in Onawa, Iowa.

Mr. Rush was an active member of the Sergeant Bluff Volunteer Fire Dept., serving as secretary and treasurer from September 1933 until he entered the Army in 1943. He was a longtime member of George Nelson Post 622 of Sergeant Bluff, and belonged to the Sergeant Bluff Rifle and Pistol Club and the Royal Prince Club. He was also curator of the Sergeant Bluff Historical Society Museum, and a member of the Iowa Motor Club and the Izaak Walton League of America.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mardelle Holt of Sioux City, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Allen Pettit, Clarence Williams, Elbert Sarger Dick Wilson, Dennis Sanderson, Roland DeGeest.

Memorials can be given in his name to the Sergeant Bluff Society Museum.
