ANTHON, Iowa - Francis Bernard Meyer, 64, of Anthon died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Mark Harrington officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion McNiff Post 389 of Anthon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. His body was donated to the University of South Dakota School of Medicine.

Mr. Meyer was born Sept. 19, 1936, near Anthon, the son of Bernard and Lena (Deming) Meyer. He graduated from Anthon High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army, receiving his discharge in 1956.

He married Carolyn Frances McKenna on April 12, 1961, in Oto, Iowa. He was employed as a mechanic with John Deere Implement and then with HamannŽSauser Implement, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed movies and reading.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert F. of Sergeant Bluff, and William of Sioux City; three daughters and their husbands. Mary and John Deichmann of Marcus, Iowa, Lynn and Tray McCormick of Anthon, and Nancy and Jeff Davis of Bloomington, Minn.; his mother of Anthon; four sisters, Evelyn Ketelsen of Lawton, Iowa, Bernadine Norris of Anthon, Joyce and her husband, Ludy DeKok of Tucson, Ariz., and Mary Ann and her husband, David Brubaker of Sioux City; and six grandchildren, Lauren, Sean, Megan, Brandon, Michael and Cody.

He was preceded in death by his father; an infant son, Ronald; and five brothers-in-law, Raymond Downey, Chris Ketelsen, Skip Maier, Kenny McKenna and Joe McKenna.
