ANTHON, Iowa — Emmett McDermott, 80, of Anthon died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 pm. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon with the Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. at Walter Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. McDermott was born May 1, 1915, in Anthon, the son of Thomas and Margaret (McKenna) McDermott. He was a lifelong Anthon resident. He farrmed, did local trucking, operated a corn sheller, worked on road construction; and was a salesman for Westendorf Manufacturing. He was a car salesman for several dealerships and worked for Brant Farmacy.

Mr. McDermott was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Joseph and Carol of Indianapolis; Ind.; and a sister Alice Donovan of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
