IDA GROVE, Iowa — Mildred Jean Edwards, 79, of Ida Grove, formerly of Correctionville, Iowa and Storm Lake, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998 at Morningside Rehabilitation and Care Center in Ida Grove.

Services will be 1:30 p.m, today at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove with the Rev, John Schauer officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services today.

Mrs. Edwards was born June 22, 1920 in Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Eva (Miller) Weathers. She grew up and received her education in Anthon. During World War II, she moved to New York where she aided in the war effort by assembling airplanes.

She married Kenneth Waldman after returning to Iowa following the war. They later divorced.

She married Farrell Edwards on Aug. 27, 1949. They made their home in Correctionville. They built the Valley Drive-In, which they operated for many years. They retired to Storm Lake. They moved to Ida Grove in 1992.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Correctionville, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Gary and Cheryl Roberts Waldman of Correctionville and Randy and Jean Edwards of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters and their husbands, Eva Mae and Dr. Harlan C. Weber of Omaha and Linda and Verdell Buss of Ida Grove; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joe.
