CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa —Marvel Elaine Walker, 85, of Correctionville died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center in Correctionville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville with the Rev. Consorcia A. Sanchez officiating.

Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mrs. Walker was born May 19, 1913, in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Nona Mae (Worthan) Smith. She graduated from Correctionville High School and attended Wayne State Teachers College.

She taught school for four years before her marriage.

She married Harold Walker on Aug. 11, 1942, in Maryville, Mo. He died Aug. 18, 1996.

Mrs. Walker was the librarian for several years and church secretary for 13 1/2 years. She also worked at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Correctionville. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the former EUB Church in Correctionville. She held many offices in the United Methodist Women and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of P.E.O.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Raymond and Darlene Walker of Correctionville; a sister, Wilma Groneberg, of Kansas City, Kan.; and a grandson, Scott Walker of Holstein, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Eric Groneberg.
