SALIX, Iowa —Eleanor M. Dixon, 81, of Los Alamos, N.M., formerly of Salix, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, in Fort Collins, Colo.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6:15 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m. at the church. Wood Funeral Home of Sloan, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dixon was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Pocahontas, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Mary (White) Thompson. She graduated from The Academy in Des Moines, Iowa and received Normal training. She taught country school in the Anthon, Iowa area and was an elementary teacher at the Immaculate Conception School in Sioux City.

She married Leo Joseph Dixon on May 27, 1940, in Anthon. The couple farmed in Anthon until 1946 when they moved to Bronson, Iowa. They lived in Sioux City for 10 years before moving to Salix in 1975. He died Sept. 8, 1986, in Onawa, Iowa. She lived in New Mexico for seven months.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Right to Life organization. She enjoyed playing bridge.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Ray and Sandy of Los Alamos, N.M., Bill and Pam of Long Creek, Ore. and Bernard and Shannon of Cave Creek, Ariz.; three daughters, Leone M. and her husband Dave Devine of Conroe, Texas, Ann and her husband Frank Keinroth of Hennessey, Okla. and Mary C. Prizznick of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Edward of Albuquerque, N.M.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Floyd, Camilla Pierick and Mary, in infancy; and two brothers, Ray and Dick.

Memorials may be given to Birth Right and the local chapter of Right to Life
