MOVILLE, Iowa - Margaret Ethel McLarnan, 77, of Moville died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at a South Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Mrs. McLarnan was born May 12, 1923, in Lawton, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Ethel (Van Norman) Horton. She graduated from Moville High School. She was a manager for Miller Everhart until her marriage to Howard Ross McLarnan in October 1947 in Moville.

She worked for Marion Health Care (now Mercy Medical Center) from 1968 until her retirement in 1989.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She was a member of Wink-Sparks Post 303 of the American Legion Auxiliary of Moville. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was stationed in Washington.

She enjoyed softball and bowling.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Mark and Sandy of Norfolk, Neb., and Kevin and Barbara of Melbourne, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Marsha and John Solheim of Redfield, S.D.; a sister and her husband, Betty and James Androy of Puyallup, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Brandy and Brent Solheim, Nicole, Amber, Amanda, Erin and Sean McLarnan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jack (Junior) Horton.
