SIOUX CITY | Robert B. Culbertson, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Bonney officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Robert was born on March 23, 1933, in Sioux City, the son of Fay and Ilah (Fitzpatrick) Culbertson. He attended school at East and graduated from high school in California. Robert joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.

He married Claudette King on April 19, 1954 in Jefferson, S.D. They made their home in Sioux City. Over the years, Robert worked at Younker-Davidson, Morey’s & Raymond’s, as a realtor for Homefinders and worked at Ben Fish Tire until he retired.

Robert was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was an Abu Bekr Shriner. He loved spending time with his family. Robert used to play minor league baseball and played fast pitch softball at Hubbard Park, catching for Leroy Carlson. He enjoyed spending time at Bob Roe’s with his friends, golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling, watching sports and his Hawkeyes.

Survivors include two sons, Craig Culbertson of Bronson, Iowa, and Clay Culbertson of Albert Lea, Minn.; a daughter, Cathy and David Fry of Bronson; two grandchildren, Robby Culbertson of Albert Lea and Jacob Fry of Bronson; two stepgrandchildren, Andy Fry of Chaska, Minn., and Tim Fry of Bronson; and a sister, Audrey and Duane Hinds of Walcott, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claudette; and brother, JD Ide.
