SIOUX CITY | Jorgen C. Petersen, 94, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Regency Square Nursing Home in South Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tom LoVan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Jorgen was born on Sept. 14, 1918, in Sioux City, to Jorgen and Mary (Sorensen) Petersen. He graduated from East High School.

He was married to Eleanor Reidiger on June 13, 1943, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2005, in Sioux City. Jorgen worked for 46 years for Sioux Tools, retiring in 1983 as a credit manager.

Jorgen enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, woodworking and was an avid fan of sports, particularly watching the Sioux City Explorers, Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Vikings.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Bill) Gutschow of South Sioux City; son, Rick Petersen of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Sally (Rob) Morrissey; and a sister, Mable Mook of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Harold, Elmer and Herman Petersen; and three sisters, Elsie Sokolowski, Marie Folonis and Martha Panther.
