James W. Stewart, 75, of Kingsley died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. John Crosswhite officiating. Burial, with military graveside services by Nash American Legion Post 140 of Kingsley, will be in Arlington Township Cemetery at Moville, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at Earnest-Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Stewart was born June 13, 1921 at Cherokee, Iowa, to Vernum and Eileen (Crump) Stewart. He grew up in the Cherokee area, graduating from Cherokee High Schoolyin 1939. He was state wrestling champion that year. He married Marjorie Clark May 4, 1945, at Sioux City. The couple lived in Cherokee, where he owned a dairy and was manager of Swanson's Super Store for many years. They then moved to Moville, where they owned and operated Jim's Grocery Store until their retirement. After retirement, they living in Dubois, Wyo., during the summers and Yuma, Ariz., during the winters. After several years they moved to Kingsley.

He served in the U.S., Army during WWII, and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Amencan Legion of Kingsley and VFW of Cherokee.

Survivors include his wife of Kinsgley; two daughters, Gloria and her husband Stan Flewelling of Moville, and Barbara Butters of Fort Collins, Colo.; a son, Wayne of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Brent, Tina, and Holly Flewelling, Jaydee Wahlberg, Jamie Butters, Jebb, Kylee, and Jacob Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne Eugene Stewart and one in infancy; and a sister, Teletha Loucks.

Pallbearers include the grandchildren.
