Ralph L. Hansel, 83, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 3012, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gary Harris officiating. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Ralph was born on March 5, 1929, in Sioux City, the son of Lloyd and Florence (Evans) Hansel.

He married Eunice L. Sorenson on June 30, 1948, in Beresford, S.D. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 1995. Mr. Hansel was employed with area body shops and retired from Crown Lincoln Mercury as the body shop foreman in 1988.

In his free time, Ralph loved to read country western books, work on cars doing body work and repainting them, and build model cars. He loved to dance the jitterbug and loved to sing. He was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church and the Sioux City Optimist Club.

Mr. Hansel is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Hansel of Sioux City, Bonnie Blenderman of Sioux City, and Angie Hansel of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hansel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Richard and Melvin Hansel; and a great-granddaughter.
