Norman F. Walker, 80, of Sioux City died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Henry Witte officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Norman was born May 23, 1932, in Hornick, Iowa, the son of Francis and Alice (Diamond) Walker. Norman grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, and was stationed in Germany.

He married Shirley Ann Kidd on July 3, 1955, in Sioux City. She died April 3, 1964, in Sioux City.

Norman was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and American Legion Monahan Post 64.

Survivors include three sons, Tim (Ellie) Walker of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mark Walker and David Walker, both of Forrest City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Josh, Anna, Adam and Jennifer; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; a brother, Wayne; and a sister, Ruby.
