Caroline W. Lawson, 82, of Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City, died Sept. 14, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 9 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery with her father and mother. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonel Chapel.

Caroline, a lifelong resident of Sioux City, was born May 17, 1930, was the only child of Cornelius and Louise (VanSteenwyk) Vandenbroek of Sioux City. Caroline was first and foremost a cowgirl, and was heavily involved in showmanship with horses in her early years. Her grandfather, Gerret VanSteenwyk, owned Stone Park Stables and Caroline took many a trail ride into the park in her youth.

Caroline was a graduate of Central High School. She was formerly married to William M. Lawson. She worked as a quality control officer for IBP for many years.

Caroline was also a piano teacher and taught many of her children to play piano. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church on Hamilton Boulevard. Caroline did evangelism and truly loved the Lord with all her heart. She also served as a Senior Companion for The Center.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters, William N. Lawson of Sioux City, Mrs. Teri L. Dolezal and husband Loren of Homer, Neb., Lori L. Rice and husband David of Valley Falls, Kan., and Timothy J. Lawson and wife Karen of Blair, Neb.; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Randy L. Lawson; her former husband, William M. Lawson; and two great-grandchildren.
