Dee Dee Roussin, 81, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at her home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Opem officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Dee Dee was born on Feb. 9, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minn. She was the daughter of Archie and Verna (Adam) Hurley. She came to Sioux City as a child and graduated from Central High School. She then attended beauty school. As a young woman she moved to California and lived there for several years.

In February of 1959, she married Paul Roussin in Las Vegas, Nev. Many years later they separated. She returned to Sioux City in the mid-1970s. Dee Dee managed at the Paddock Steak House for several years. She then managed the 75 Suds Laundry until she retired in January of 2011.

Dee Dee enjoyed going to casinos and visiting with people. The Dodgers were her favorite team. What she loved most was spending time with her children and grandchildren and was known as “Bomie.” Bomie had a beautiful spirit and a big heart, she welcomed all with loving arms and a warm smile. One of the last things she said was how much she loved her family.

She is survived by her four children, Diane Bates of Denver, Colo., Julie Bramble and her fiancé, Jimmy Muder of Demming, Wash., Brent Roussin of Sioux City, and René and Daniel Brewer of South Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Shell, Jason, Briana, Cori, Adam, Brittany, Bryce and Blayne; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; and great-grandson, Brecken Novotny.

A memorial has been established in her name.
