SIOUX CITY | John W. Marshall, 49, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at a local hospital.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

John was born on Dec. 25, 1962, in Sioux City, the son of Glenn and Nellie (Weis) Marshall.

Music was an important part of John’s life, especially playing the guitar and singing. He loved spending time with his family. John attended Heartland Community Baptist Church, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School.

Survivors include his two sons, Trever and Sam Marshall, both of Sioux City; and his siblings, Raymond and his wife, Jolene of Grand Haven, Mich., Gary, Jimmy, Bobby, and Rick, all of Sioux City, Sandra Ranson of Lottie, La., Patti Whitlock and her husband, Donald of Sioux City, and Connie Mitchell and her husband, Douglas of Grand Haven.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Leonard.
