Odessa Faye Sams, 70, of Luton, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 11, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at her home.

Mrs. Sams was born on December 31, 1926, at Salix, Iowa, the daughter of John and Bessie (Solberg) Taylor. She married Donald L. Sams, Sr. on July 25, 1944, at LeMars, Iowa. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Salix area.

Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Sams Sr. of Luton; two sons, Donald L. Sams Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Salina, Kansas and Clayton R. Sams of Sioux City, Iowa; one daughter, Betty J. Miller of Palmetto, Florida; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; a brother, Jack Taylor of Gilbert, Arizona, and a half-sister, Clarice Adams of Carson City, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 1997, at the Community Methodist Church, Salix, Iowa, with Rev. Martha Anderson Officiating. The pianist was Mr. Elmer Macklin and the selections were, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".

Casket Bearers were Eric Sams, Anthony Sams, Dean Miller, Jr., Donnie Solberg, Chris Kunze, and David Kunze.

Interment was in. the Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa, with arrangements Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
