June 01, 2011Colleen Mary Butler, 86, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, May 29, 2011.
Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland Park Cemetery.
Colleen was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Yankton, S.D., the daughter of Ralph and Luella Palmer.
She married Wallace Butler on July 2, 1953, in South Sioux City. He died Dec. 5, 1998, in Sioux City.
Collen attended Wayne (Neb.) State College and received her teaching certificate at age 16. She taught at Lowell School, substituted at various Siouxland schools and taught preschool at St. Thomas for 10 years. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Darcy and husband, Richard Hooks of Dakota Dunes, and Kandyce and husband, Steve Morzenti of Casper, Wyo.; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kyle Hooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of the donor's choice.
