Richard "Rich" Arnold Clingenpeel, 67, of Sioux City died Monday, May 30, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family and Hospice of Siouxland.

Services were Friday in Graceland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Roger Madden of First United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Online condolences may be posted at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Rich was born Jan. 30, 1944, in Sioux City, the son of Clarence and Dorathea (Clowater) Clingenpeel. He attended Sioux City Community Schools.

He was united in marriage with Barbara Jones on Aug. 12, 1961, in Sioux City.

Rich worked for a few years at Sioux City Foundry and Memorial Park Cemetery before beginning a 34-year career at Sioux City Wilbert Vault Company, where he had continued to work until the last month when his health would no longer allow him to do so.

Rich enjoyed being on the go. He enjoyed motorcycles, boating, car racing, water skiing, bowling and golf. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the Sioux City Eagles Lodge. He cherished the time he could spend with his family and playing chess with his great-grandson. He was a former member of the Rivercade Association and Boys of '68.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Sioux City; his son, Russ "Rusty" and his wife, Denise of Raytown, Mo.; his daughter, Lona Wright and her husband, Tim of Sioux City; his three grandchildren, Sheena Dowhower, Chad Clingenpeel and Beth Wright; his eight step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Diane Carda of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family requests memorials to Hospice of Siouxland.
