Dennis Anthony Migis, 68, of Sioux City died Sunday, June 5, 2011, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Dennis was born July 31, 1942, in Sioux City, the son of Anthony and Wanda (Rickwa) Migis. He lived in Sioux City most of his life, except when he served in the U.S. Air Force. Dennis graduated from Heelan High School in 1960.

On Aug. 10, 1963, he married Mildred Verda Lilly in Sioux City.

Dennis worked at Zenith for 17 years. Dennis was an agent for Farmers Insurance Group for 31 years. He retired in 2010.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a former member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. Dennis was a member of the Ham Radio Club, post-polio support group and MARS. He participated in Skywarn for many years. He sold tropical fish for several years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and vacations with the family. What he loved the most was riding his motorcycle, walking his dogs and getting together with his family every Wednesday and Sunday for dinner and loud conversations.

Dennis was loved by everyone he knew. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was the cornerstone of the family, always providing them with love, strength, advice and an occasional kick in the pants.

Survivors include his wife, Verda; his daughter and her partner, Madalen Higman and James Larrabee of Sioux City; and six grandchildren, Erica, A.J., Jake, Tyler, Jada and Kacie Jo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a close friend, DeLane David; and his pets, Fritz, Herman, Buffy and Mooch. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
