Helen A. Diller, 93, of Maricopa, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died peacefully Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at her home after being ill for a year.

Graveside services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Allen Funeral Home in Mesa, Ariz.

Helen Pounds was born April 28, 1918, in Wilton, N.D., the daughter of Harry and Clara Pounds. She attended school through 11th grade at Sioux City Central High School.

She married Ronald Diller on Aug. 15, 1937, in Elk Point, S.D. She lived in Sioux City most of her life, with 23 years spent in California.

She was employed at several places, including Wincharger in Sioux City. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux City and Calvary Chapel in Maricopa. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary No. 1973 and DAV Auxiliary. She volunteered helping seniors and at Queen of Peace in Sioux City. She was a Southern Hills Mall walker.

Survivors include her children, Jerry (Edna) Diller of Appleton, Wis., Margene (Tom) Pitts of Coolidge, Ariz., Cherie Jaynes of Maricopa and Marlys (Larry) Calhoun of Maricopa; daughters-in-law, Judy Diller of Litchfield, Minn., Cindy Diller of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Michelle Diller Gonzales of Sioux City; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents; three sons, Terry, Teddy and Tommy; and a son-in-law, Jerry Jaynes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Queen of Peace.
