Gloria May Sather, 88, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Gardner, Kan., and Sioux City, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center in Olathe.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner. Burial will be in Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted online at www.brucefuneralhome.com.

Gloria was born May 15, 1923, in Sioux City, to Worth W. and Pauline L. (Moravec) Waltermire. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1941.

Gloria married Lawrence N. Sather on July 11, 1943, in Sioux City. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1957, Orlando, Fla., in 1981, Gardner Lake in 1987 and Cedar Lake Village, Kan., in 2003.

She worked as a bank teller for Livestock National Bank in Sioux City, City National Bank in Cedar Rapids, and First Kansas Bank and Gardner National Bank, both in Gardner.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran in Olathe. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria was an avid walker. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Glory Livingston of Wellsville, Kan., and April (Mel) Powell of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Jacquelyn Rygh of Sioux City; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Sally Louise; her husband, Lawrence in 2005; a sister, Davadene Compton; and a son-in-law, David Livingston.

Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
