Darrell R. Johns, 80, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.

The body was cremated. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Darrell was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Sioux City, the son of Fred and Irene Johns. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was a weapons expert in the Korean War. He received a Korean Service Medal and three Bronze Stars.

He worked at Sioux Tools. He worked at Curry Floors and Acoustics for more than 40 years.

Darrell enjoyed fishing, hunting and motorcycles.

Survivors include his significant other, Sally Downing of Sioux City; four stepsons, Russ (Renee) Parsley of Sioux City, Ty (Wendy) Parsley of Des Moines, Iowa, Robert Parsley of Sioux City and Dion (Sandy) Downing of Arizona; a stepdaughter, Diane Johns of McCook Lake, S.D.; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
