Cynthia Ann Pate, 51, Sioux City died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at a Sioux City Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Cynthia was born Sept. 30, 1959, in Sioux City, the daughter of Jacquelyn (Bray) and John W. Warfield. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from North High School in 1978. She lived in California for several years before returning to Sioux City in 1992.

She worked in customer service in Sioux City at various Siouxland businesses and many years at Gateway, where she was affectionately know as Tessa to her friends. Cynthia was a great cook. She loved fantasy football, the Miami Dolphins, reading, golfing and bowling, winning several bowling tournaments. She was especially known for her great sense of humor and was a friend to all. The most important part of her life was her love for her children.

Survivors include her two children, a son, Austin of South Dakota, and a daughter, Abbey at home; her mother, Jacquelyn of South Sioux City; two sisters, Becky (Douglas Pitts) Warfield and their son, Thomas Pitts, of Clovis, Calif., and Amy and Kevin O'Dell of South Sioux City and their children, Leah and Lindsay; two brothers, Andrew of Sioux City and Matthew of Gilbert, Ariz., and his children, Richard, Johnnie and Spencer; and Cindy's companion, Jerry Banks of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her father.
